How to export your customer and order data out of BlueCart

BlueCart documents no export procedure. There is no help centre, the only first-party documentation is an API reference, and no page on bluecart.com describes getting a customer list or an order history out. What a supplier has instead is a contract clause - Section 6.4 of BlueCart's SaaS Terms and Conditions gives a customer 30 days after expiry or termination to download or otherwise obtain an extract of their Customer Data - plus a REST API that lists orders 25 at a time and clients 50 at a time, and a written request to the support address named in the same terms.

BlueCart documents no export procedure

The BlueCart in question is the wholesale ordering platform at bluecart.com, not the unrelated "BlueCart API" sold by a different company to scrape Walmart product listings.

BlueCart has no knowledge base. The help.bluecart.com subdomain does not resolve at all. The one set of first-party technical documentation is its API reference, which covers authentication, pagination and endpoints and says nothing about files, downloads or CSV.

A supplier who signs in and hunts for an Export button is looking for something BlueCart has not published, in a product whose feature pages name reports and analytics without naming a file format.

Section 6.4 is the entitlement

BlueCart's SaaS Terms and Conditions, last updated 15 August 2024, are hosted on its privacy-policy page. Two clauses matter to a supplier on the way out.

Section 2.5(c) states that the customer retains full ownership of their own content; BlueCart holds a licence to use, copy, host and display it. Section 6.4 then gives the customer 30 days after expiry or termination to download or otherwise obtain an extract of any Customer Data stored by the service at that moment. Customer Data is defined as any data owned by the customer that was submitted to the service for processing, transmission or storage - which covers the customer accounts, the orders, the catalogue and the prices a supplier loaded in.

The terms name no file format for that extract, and place no obligation on BlueCart to help produce one. The privacy policy names no access-request route, no portability right, no request address and no response deadline, so Section 6.4 and the support address are the whole of the published mechanism.

The REST API is the only documented route out

BlueCart's endpoint reference lists a collection endpoint and a single-object endpoint for each resource. Orders and users page 25 records at a time; clients, products and catalogs page 50. Pagination is by next token: each page returns a token that the following request has to carry, and a page arriving without one is the last. The page size is set per resource inside BlueCart and is not something a caller can raise. The same reference states that the API supports no bulk operations and works on one object per request.

Credentials are self-service. An Access Key ID, a Secret Access Key and an API Key are created in the app under Settings, on the API Access Credentials screen. Requests are signed with AWS Signature v4 against us-east-1 and the execute-api service, which is not something a spreadsheet or a browser address bar can do - a script or an integration tool has to sign each call. The base URL is not in the public documentation; it arrives with the Postman collection BlueCart supplies to account holders.

The Accounting Report is the one named in-product export

BlueCart's own case study with Bellegarde Bakery describes importing BlueCart invoices through "BlueCart's Accounting Report" using Transaction Pro for QuickBooks, six days a week, in under a minute. That is the only named, first-party, in-product export on the whole site. It covers invoices, its file format is published nowhere, and the report itself has no documentation page.

Alongside it, BlueCart lists accounting integrations with QuickBooks Online, Xero, NetSuite and Stripe, which move invoices rather than hand over a customer list. A supplier whose accounts sit in QuickBooks Desktop is not covered by that set.

Asking for the extract in writing

The support address in Section 3.1 of the terms is [email protected], with a telephone line, staffed 9:00am to 5:00pm Eastern, Monday to Friday. Support at those hours carries no additional charge under the same clause.

A written request is worth making before the account closes rather than after. Name in the request what the extract has to contain and in what shape:

  • Every customer account with contact details, delivery address, assigned pricing catalogue and account reference
  • Every order with its date, customer, line items, quantities, unit prices and totals
  • Every invoice with its number, date, customer, line items and payment status
  • The full product catalogue with SKUs, pack sizes and each price list
  • A delimited text format - CSV or TSV - one file per record type, rather than PDFs or screenshots

Keep the request and every reply in one email thread. A reviewer leaving BlueCart in 2024 reports that their written cancellation went unanswered until they approached a different department, and the Better Business Bureau lists BlueCart as having failed to respond to a complaint filed against it.

What to settle before cancelling

  • Take the extract while the account is live. The API works on a current account and needs credentials created from inside it. Section 6.4's window opens at termination, so a supplier who cancels first is relying on BlueCart producing a file rather than on access they still hold.
  • Read the term, not the invoice cadence. Reviewers report two-year agreements billed monthly, and one was told they owed the remainder of the term after cancelling. BlueCart's pricing covers the fee model and what is publishable about it.
  • Separate the two 30-day clauses. The notice period for cancelling and the window for extracting data are different provisions and run from different dates.
  • Check the customer accounts are yours to take. BlueCart roots a buyer account at the platform rather than at the supplier, so a restaurant that signed up through BlueCart may hold its own relationship there. BlueCart compared with Cut+Dry sets that marketplace model against a supplier-rooted one.

Bringing the records into Wholesale Handler

Wholesale Handler imports a customer book and a product catalogue from a spreadsheet. Paste a block of rows out of Excel or Google Sheets, or drop a .csv, .tsv or .xlsx file onto the page, and each column lands by its heading; rows with a missing detail, a malformed email address or a duplicate are flagged and fixed in the grid before anything is written, and a row that stays wrong is skipped rather than holding up the rest. How bulk import works on Wholesale Handler covers the columns and the template. Imported customers are not emailed until a separate step, so a whole book can land without a single notification reaching a restaurant, and how customers and invitations work on Wholesale Handler covers the invitation side.

Orders are not part of that import. They are created in Wholesale Handler itself, by a customer or by the merchant on their behalf, so a BlueCart order history stays a spreadsheet archive for accounting rather than becoming rows in a new system. Pro covers 50 customers at US$109 a month, Starter 10, and the free plan 3.

Going out again, Wholesale Handler exports invoice line items as a CSV: one row per line item with the invoice-level fields repeated across that invoice's rows, a named period or a custom range up to 186 days, and columns the merchant picks and renames to match what their accounting package imports. How data export works on Wholesale Handler covers the periods, the statuses and the 5,000-line-item ceiling on a single export. Exporting customers, orders and products each from their own page is on the roadmap rather than built.
